Who tells the story?

Map and models

The preserved terrain prototype has its own detailed source panel and research documentation. It uses 2019 NRCan elevation data and OpenStreetMap geometry. Coverage is incomplete. Building heights, vegetation and bison are illustrative. Neither map nor animation establishes a current safe route, an archaeological location, or real herd behaviour.

The trail animation is original procedural geometry. Camera overlay places graphics on the screen; it does not attach them to a real surface. The separate WebXR implementation attempts surface placement on supported devices. Physical phone and field verification are still required. No camera recording, GPS collection, or analytics upload is implemented.

Device privacy

Notes and activity completion are stored in localStorage on the current browser. They are not uploaded. Clear notes on shared devices. The browser may retain downloaded note files. Camera permission is optional and requested only when you choose a camera feature. Closing the page or hiding it stops the camera overlay. External source links follow those sites’ privacy policies.

Offline coverage

The small classroom and trail companion are cached after a successful online visit. The large terrain map, proposal, QR preparation page, and external sources are not promised offline. Camera and AR availability depend on the device and secure hosting.

Commercial assets

The offered pilot uses illustrated terrain. The optional aerial imagery provider in the research prototype has unresolved commercial redistribution terms and is excluded from the proposed deliverable unless separately cleared. No official photographs, logos, teaching recordings, or restricted cultural material are licensed by this demonstration.

Three.js: MIT licence. Terrain and map attribution remain in the 3D viewer. Third-party licences and attribution must be retained in any delivered package.
